4 Ways Employees Can Prevent and Reduce Burnout

Here are a few tips to share with employees. Taking these simple steps can help to prevent and reduce burnout.

Make Sleep a Priority

Getting enough sleep is one of the most powerful methods to combat burnout and stress. Adults need around seven to nine hours of sleep to be able to handle a potentially stressful day or just to be productive in general. Along with improving your general sense of wellbeing, getting enough sleep can make a difference in managing your workload.

Learn to Say No

Preventing and reducing burnout sometimes means taking a step back when it comes to your workload. Taking on too many tasks may feel necessary to succeed, but your mental health should take precedence. If you’re mentally, emotionally, or physically exhausted, you’re not going to produce optimal results.

Get Enough Exercise

Moving your body helps reduce stress and boosts mood. Exercise prevents stress on the mind and body and is key to improved health and wellness. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends adults get at least 2.5 hours of moderate-intensity exercise or 1.5 hours of high-intensity exercise per week.

Spend Time with Positive People

Negative people can pass their negativity onto you, which can make you feel down. A great way to prevent burnout is to surround yourself with people who uplift you. The positivity can make you feel happy and more willing to take on the day.
