There’s so much to learn about pregnancy and we’re here to help. From pregnancy planning and doula care to a variety of resources and support available up to and including the first 12 months of your child’s life, Quartz is here to help you feel at ease, educated, and empowered during this important health journey.

Start with healthy beginnings
Do you think you may be pregnant? Wondering where to get started? Step confidently into a healthy beginning using the information below.
Get connected to care
Contact your primary care provider as soon as you know you’re pregnant. They can help you decide what medical care options might be right for you and your baby:
- Obstetricians – Medical specialists who have special training in prenatal care, birth, and high-risk pregnancies.
- Midwives – Certified experts who can provide prenatal care, birth, and after-birth care for low-risk pregnancies.

Once you establish care with medical experts, consider a doula for extra support. Doulas are trained, non-clinical experts who provide education, support, and companionship from the 20th week of pregnancy through the first 12 months of your child’s life.

Feeding your baby
Breast feeding is known to be the most complete form of nutrition for babies and also promotes bonding between mother and baby
Quartz covers most breast pumps in full and can help you get one by mail or at a durable medical equipment (DME) supplier prior to your delivery. To find an in-network DME supplier, search for DME suppliers or call Quartz Customer Success at (800) 362-3310. You can also ask your obstetrics nurse or doctor to send a breast pump order to an in-network supplier near you.
Tests and vaccinations
There are various tests and vaccinations recommended throughout pregnancy and into the first year of your child’s life. We encourage you to follow any guidelines or recommendations suggested by your providers and medical experts.
Connect with a doula
You can choose in-person or virtual doula care and a doula will connect with you around week 20 of your pregnancy. They will teach you about the birthing process and help develop a birth plan that’s right for you and your baby. They can also serve as a support system during delivery.

We understand post-pregnancy looks different for everyone, which is why we encourage you to always be aware of you and your baby’s health and healing.
Keeping you and your baby well
The body goes through a lot during any delivery situation, so it’s important to follow-up with your provider about your physical health. We’re also here to support your baby’s health with coverage including wellness visits, immunizations, and preventive vaccines.
Your mental health matters
Pregnancy, becoming a parent, and adjusting to a new norm is exciting, but it can be a lot, too. With Quartz mental well-being programs with AbleTo you get quick access to mental health providers and resources for anytime, anywhere support.
Continued breast feeding support
If you have any issues with breast feeding or lactation, first contact your primary care provider or the providers at the hospital where you had your baby. Most hospitals have helplines available 24/7. Check your Schedule of Benefits or call Customer Success at (800) 362-3310 for lactation service coverage information.
Post-pregnancy doula care
After delivery, your doula meets with you up to three times to teach you how to care for your baby, help with breast feeding education, and also screen for postpartum depression. Lean on them for support – they are there to help!
To enroll in our Healthy Futures program, please call Quartz Care Management at (866) 994-4601. Once enrolled, a care manager can help you navigate post-pregnancy milestones and answer any questions.
Connect with a certified doula:
Care and companionship in one
Quartz is happy to provide commercial, ETF*, and individual and family members with the option to participate in a doula care program. Duolas are trained, non-clinical professionals who provide extra support and companionship throughout your pregnancy. From birth planning to baby care, doulas are there to help you every step of the way.
You have two doula programs to choose from:
- Foundation for Women’s Wellness is open to all races and ethnicities and offers in-person doula to members in Dane County. To enroll in this program, please call the Foundation directly at (608) 305-4318.
- Major Care provides virtual doula care through video visits and text messages. To get started with Major Care, text “QUARTZ” to (844) 716-2567.
