Good news! As of January 1, 2024, Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors can enroll as Medicare providers and bill for services provided to Medicare patients.
This change is a result of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023. CMS has shared this article that contains FAQs regarding this change, including instructions on how to apply for Medicare certification.

If any practitioners at your facility are obtaining Medicare certification due to this change, please notify Quartz by filling out our Practitioner Notification Form. When you update a practitioner’s licensure information, you will be prompted to provide details about their Medicare certification. This will ensure our records are correctly updated. If you expect a high volume of certifications, you can request a template by sending an email to [email protected].
If your facility is not currently contracted with Quartz for Medicare products, please reach out to your Provider Engagement Specialist to amend your provider agreement.
