November is Diabetes Awareness Month

All month long, Quartz helps raise awareness and offers ways people can learn more about diabetes.

Are You at Risk?

Your genetics make you more prone for getting both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. However, Type 2 diabetes is also caused by lifestyle factors.

Resources to Help

The Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging offers workshops and classes to support our members living with diabetes, including –

  • Living Well with Chronic Conditions is a six-week class for managing one or more chronic conditions.
  • Healthy Living with Diabetes is a six-week class that covers topics such as healthy eating, exercise for
fitness and fun, relaxation techniques and more.

Call (608) 243-5690 or visit wihealthyaging.org for help finding a class or workshop near you.

  1. Diabetes causes more deaths each year than breast cancer and aids combined.

  2. About 30 million Americans have diabetes – and of those, nearly 95% have Type 2 diabetes.
