Wisconsin Physician Assistants Eligible for Credentialing

A part of Wisconsin Act 23 in effect beginning April 1, 2022, means the Physician and Physician Assistant relationship has changed from a supervisory relationship to a collaborative relationship.

This relationship is now similar to Nurse Practitioners, who have collaboration agreements with physicians. This means that physician assistants are now individually and independently responsible for the quality of care rendered.

Due to this change, Physician Assistants are now:

  • Eligible for credentialing
  • Will be listed in Find a Doctor
  • Eligible to serve as PCPs
