The MBI number is made up of 11 numbers and letters, and will be used for billing, to verify eligibility for services and to check the status of a claim.

You don’t need to contact us with the new MBI number. We will obtain the information from Medicare.

WHEN THE NEW CARDS ARE COMING

Medicare will begin mailing new Medicare cards April 1, 2018, and continue through April 2019. If you don’t receive your new card right away, or your spouse or friends get theirs first — don’t worry! Medicare
members have until December 31, 2019, to start using the new ID. Both the new card and your current card will be valid until then.

Things to Know About Your New Medicare Card

  • Your new card is free and will be mailed to you automatically.
  • Your Medicare coverage and benefits will stay the same.

Watch Out For Scams

The Federal Trade Commission reports that scam artists pretending to be from Medicare are now calling beneficiaries. Hang up if the caller asks for money, threatens to cancel your health benefits, or asks for your Social Security number and bank information. Medicare will never ask you to give such personal or private information for you to get your new card. For more information on when Medicare can call you, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) or visit medicare.gov.
