One of the easy ways to protect you from getting sick and spreading germs is to wash your hands properly.

This winter season, protect yourself from germs and sickness. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.

Simply washing your hands may stop the spread of a host of illnesses.

Remember and PRACTICE these strategies –

  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze
    • Wash your hands after sneezing into your hands
  • If you’re sick, stay home!
    • It’s better for you to stay home and rest and it’s better for your coworkers
      not to pick up your cold
  • Remember to wash your hands often
  • Always after going to the bathroom or if you have contact with a sick person
    Avoid touching your face, mouth, eyes
  • Disinfect your work space, counters, table
  • Get your flu shot

Five Steps to Washing Your Hands

  1. Wet your hands with water
  2. Lather your hands completely with soap
  3. Scrub your hands together for at least 20 seconds
  4. Rinse hands well under clean, running water
  5. Dry using a clean towel or air dry
