Don’t Forget About the Flu

With so much in the media about COVID-19, it would be easy to miss that it’s also flu season. Influenza or “seasonal flu” is a contagious respiratory disease that can lead to serious illness, hospitalization, or even death.  A flu vaccine will help protect you, your family members, and coworkers. This flu season, it’s especially important so we can avoid high levels of both flu and COVID-19 impacting health care systems.

No Cost. No Copay. You’re Covered

Flu vaccines are covered 100% for Quartz members when given at your primary care clinic or a participating Quartz pharmacy. Just show your member ID card. Benefits must be in effect at the time you receive the vaccine and Quartz must be your primary insurance carrier.

When Do You Get the Flu Vaccine?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends getting the flu vaccine by the end of October. However, as long as flu viruses are circulating, vaccination should continue even in January or later. Most “flu shots” are given with a needle, usually in the arm, but there is also a nasal spray.
