MADISON, WISCONSIN – Today, Quartz Health Solutions announced a recent honor for one of the organization’s leaders in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Quartz Community Liaison Manager Carola Gaines was named earlier this month among the 2022 recipients of the University of Wisconsin Madison Outstanding Women of Color Awards.

“We all need to be open to being uncomfortable and ready to learn, so we can fully understand what diversity, equity and inclusion can bring to our organizations, communities, and the world,” said Gaines. “It’s an honor to be celebrated among this list of exceptional women who are making an incredible impact on their communities and organizations.”

With the annual award, UW Madison recognized Gaines as a dedicated and tireless advocate for equity in health care for some of Wisconsin’s most vulnerable populations. Through her work, Gaines has helped to advance Quartz’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and in the communities Quartz serves.

“As we work towards our organizational goal of helping our communities live a life well-lived, we must remember to keep diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at the forefront of our fight. From sparking internal conversations to creating meaningful connections in our communities, Carola advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels,” said Diego Campoverde, Quartz Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “We are incredibly proud to celebrate her well-deserved nomination as a UW Madison Outstanding Women of Color Honoree.”

Gaines was honored among the fourteenth cohort of Outstanding Women of Color Award recipients at a reception on Thursday, March 3.
