About one-third of adults have prediabetes, and 90% are not aware they have it. Genetics play a role in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is also caused by lifestyle factors. To prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes, here are five ways to lower risk:

  3. Watch your weight
  4. Drink lots of water
  5. Quit smoking
