Americans check their cell phones up to 50 times a day, on average.

How germy is it really?

Your cell phone has nearly three times more bacteria per square inch than public door knobs and your pet’s water bowl. According to a study published in the Annals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials, our cell phones and devices are a breeding ground for staph and strep along with other bacteria. No matter how often you wash your hands, if you aren’t properly cleaning your devices at least once a week, you are exposing yourself to many germs and bacteria that are busy growing on screens, cases and devices – 24/7.

Tips on how to clean your phone

  1. Remove your phone’s / device’s case and place it on a clean cloth and level surface.
  2. Use a cell phone or device cleaning product.
  3. Clean front, sides and back of your phone, all around your case, inside and out.
  4. Put the phone back into the clean case.
